Still in the planning and design phase, Victoria’s Crystal Pool replacement project is on track with schedule and budget, according to the quarterly report to end 2025.
While the city seeks a construction manager for the project, other key tasks include planning recreation programs for the interim facility, confirming the construction schedule and finalizing the latest phase of design.
The current YMCA at 851 Broughton St., is set to relocate to the top floor of the Bay Centre early this year. Victoria temporarily takes over the space on Broughton Street to keep programs running – for the anticipated five-year build. Staff expect to update council and the public this spring on a permanent Crystal Pool closure date and schematic design for the new facility.
To date, the project is at 0.4 per cent of its $209.2-million budget – about $885,000.
