An “equipment failure” has more than 5,000 people in Victoria and Oak Bay facing Friday morning without power.

Power went down to folks in South Jubilee, Rockland, South Oak Bay and parts of Fairfield on Feb. 20 just after 7:20 a.m., according to overlapping outages on the BC Hydro map.

The utilities company antipates restoring power by noon.
