UPDATE TUESDAY, MARCH 10: And now it’s six wins, no losses.

Team Canada scored three in the last end with the final rock to remain unbeaten at the Paralympics in Italy following a thrilling 6-5 come-from-behind win over Sweden Tuesday afternoon, March 10.

The Swedes – the defending silver medalists from Beijing four years ago – led 5-3 after stealing three of their own in the seventh end, setting the stage for Canada’s heroics from the quartet of Spallumcheen’s Ina Forrest (second), skip Mark Ideson (London, Ont.), third Jon Thurston (Dunsford, Ont.), and lead Callinda Joseph (Stittsville, Ont.).

Canada led 1-0 after scoring a point with last rock in the opening end, then stole single points in the second and fourth ends for a 3-0 bulge at the break.

The Swedes scored with last rock to get on the board in the fifth end, and stole a single in the sixth before the trey in seven.

Forrest shot a whopping 73 per cent shot success in the morning game, a 9-4 victory over the defending Paralympic champions, China, and shot 70 per cent against Sweden.

Canada sits atop the table at 6-0 with three matches to go in the round robin. China is second at 5-1, Sweden and Korea are tied for third at 4-2.

The lone game for Canada on Wednesday, March 11, is against Slovakia (3-2).

After the fourth-end break, skip Mark Ideson would score a deuce with hammer for Canada for a 5-3 lead after five ends.
