Police allege a Maple Ridge women was selling stolen clothing from her home.

A Maple Ridge woman has been busted for allegedly reselling designer clothes and other stolen merchandise from her home.

Surrey RCMP executed a search warrant at the residence in the 10100-block of Jackson Road on Friday, June 14, and arrested a woman running what police called "a retail fencing scheme" from her home.

The Surrey RCMP North Community Response Unit (NCRU) conducted the search as part of an investigation into possession of property obtained by crime.

Officers seized hundreds of designer-brand clothing items; including jackets, tops, leggings, and other sports and fashion items. Police estimate the total value of items to be more than $43,000.

The woman is alleged to have advertised the stolen goods for sale using Facebook Marketplace. She is believed to have been selling items at a significant discount from the original retail prices, say police. The woman is also alleged to have set up a retail-style storefront within her home to facilitate the selling of the stolen goods.

Police ask the public not to buy potentially stolen goods.

"If the deal is too good to be true, it probably is, and we are asking buyers to be aware," said Staff Sgt. Nigel Pronger, NCRU commander. "The Surrey RMCP apply a comprehensive retail strategy by working closely with our retail partners. The community can also play a part by reporting suspicious activity and not giving a market for these criminals to exploit."

The Surrey RCMP continues to investigate this file and are looking to speak to anyone who may have inadvertently purchased sports or fashion items from this suspect.
