From Gen Z to Gen A, Mrs. Claus knows what kind of gifts to give away

‘I hope all the kids leave carrots and cookies out for Santa and the reindeer’

Mrs. Claus doesn’t get snowed under during the holiday season.

For a couple of decades, the Polar Princess has not only run the northern bakery successfully, but has managed to keep track of more than 2 billion children’s wish lists, helped her elves meet intense deadlines, and joined Santa in delivering gifts across the globe.

“It’s so busy, but I’ve been making a lot of cookies because Santa likes his cookies, and so do the elves,” said the North Pole baker, noting that the reindeer love carrots and hay. “I hope all the kids leave carrots and cookies out for Santa, and the reindeer.”

Mrs. Claus reports that Lego and online games have been some of the most popular requests from kids this year. To fulfill the wishes of both, Generation Z and Alpha, the elves have been working extra hard.

“It’s really tough for them to make, but our workers are now becoming very savvy in all things electronic,” said Claus. “So we’ve got a whole new breed of elves that are really learning a lot more about electronic games. So I think the kids won’t be disappointed.”

Kaliya Javra is on the older end of Gen Z, and since she was little, her wish list has drastically changed.

“I actually don’t want much this Christmas,” said the 19-year-old. “I guess I’m grateful for what I already have. I know growing up, I kind of always wanted the new best thing, like new sunglasses and new pairs of jeans or new shoes. There are some things that I could use like I’m running on the last sole of my boots I love very much. So those would be cool to have, but I think I’m just more excited to just spend time at home, and have dinners and campfires with people.”

She went on to add that rent money could be on the Christmas list, but that it is less of a realistic expectation.

According to the UVic student, it would help a little bit of weight off her shoulders, but ultimately, Javra is thankful she gets to spend time with family and friends over the holidays.

As for Mrs. Claus, she is excited to give a variety of gifts away this year and might even join Santa on the Dec. 24, sleigh ride.

“Sometimes if Santa needs help then I’ll go with him because it’s quite exciting, but I don’t like to go with him all night because it’s a very long night,” said Claus.

“So, I like to be home when he’s home, coming home to the North Pole. I can feed him a really good, nice dinner and a nice big hot cup of hot cocoa with marshmallows.”

The kids have been wonderful this year, according to Claus, and she knows that they’re, “all going to go to bed and stay asleep until Santa has had a chance to be there, and when they wake up in the morning, I think they’re going to be very happy.”
